Sculpt Like Hunt and Perkins: A Creative Sculpting Workshop
A creative sculpting workshop at the Obama Presidential Center highlights two notable Black Chicago sculptors, Richard Hunt and Marion Perkins. On Wednesday, November 18, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM, artist Joy Joshua leads participants in making mixed-media sculptures using clay, wire, cardboard, aluminum foil, and paint, drawing inspiration from Hunt’s abstract forms and his ability to transform metal into movement. The session includes activities like building modular sculptures, figurative abstractions, and community-inspired designs, with an emphasis on creative expression and appreciation for Hunt’s legacy. Registration is required.
