Sculpt Like Hunt and Perkins: A Creative Sculpting Workshop

This workshop at North Pulaski focuses on two of Chicago’s most significant sculptors: Richard Hunt and Marion Perkins. Hunt, who created over 160 public sculpture commissions nationwide, is the entry point for a hands-on session led by artist Joy Joshua. On Tuesday, October 13, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM, participants work with clay, wire, cardboard, aluminum foil, and paint to build mixed-media pieces inspired by Hunt’s abstract forms. The session includes modular sculptures, figurative abstractions, and prompts to design work reflecting your own neighborhood. It’s a thoughtful, low-key way to engage with Black history and public art through making rather than just looking. Presented as part of the Chicago Public Library’s Renaissance Project; registration is active.
