Sculpt Like Hunt and Perkins: A Creative Sculpting Workshop

A workshop at the Roden branch that pairs a look at two major Black Chicago sculptors with a hands-on chance to work in their spirit. Artist Joy Joshua leads participants through a 90-minute session on Sunday, October 11, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM, spotlighting Richard Hunt and Marion Perkins. After a brief overview of Hunt’s 60-year career and 160 public commissions, attendees create mixed-media sculptures from clay, wire, cardboard, foil, and paint, with prompts for modular forms, figurative abstractions, and neighborhood-inspired designs.
