RiverLab: Free Walk-Up Paddle at River

Free guided canoe paddles on the Chicago River, offered on a first-come, first-served basis at River Park on Saturday, August 29, from 12:30 to 4:00 PM. No experience is needed: each 45-minute session begins with an orientation covering basic paddling skills and safety, and the Park District provides all equipment (lifejacket, paddle, canoe). Registration is in person only at the boathouse on Argyle, with sign-ups starting at 12:45 PM; paddlers must be at least three years old, children under 35 pounds need their own lifejacket, and anyone under 18 must come with an adult. While you wait, the park and boathouse are worth a wander.
