Pathfinders Fall Family Fun Day
Pathfinders Fall Family Fun Day is an arts and storytelling celebration centered on Black and queer families and community, hosted at the Austin branch on Sunday, November 22, from 1:30 to 4:30 PM. Designed by CPL Renaissance Project Scholar Amari Amai, the afternoon includes an art therapy session with Black Alphabet, a storytelling workshop from About Face Theater, and free copies of Roy Kinsey's children's book "Deangelo and the Dandelion." The event closes with youth poets from the West Side and an immersive storytelling piece by Amai, drawn from his archival research on Black LGBTQ+ life in the neighborhood — a direct nod to Brenetta Howell Barrett's "Harriet Tubman Place PathFinders," which supported Black queer youth in Austin in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Registration is required.
