Oh, the Horror! Book Club: Hell House
Do you love strange, creepy and straight-up scary books? Then join our online horror book club led by librarians at Chicago Public Library across the city. This month, we will be reading Richard Matheson's HELL HOUSE!
"Hell House is the scariest haunted house novel ever written. It looms over the rest the way the mountains loom over the foothills." -- Stephen King
From the author of I Am Legend comes Richard Matheson's Hell House, the basis for the supernatural horror film starring Pamela Franklin, Roddy McDowall, Clive Revill.
Hell House brings four strangers to the notorious Belasco mansion—scientist Lionel Barrett, his wary wife Edith, idealistic medium Florence Tanner, and traumatized survivor Ben Fischer—tasked with proving life after death. Inside, the house twists fears, faith, and desire into weapons, turning the investigation into a perilous psychological siege.
Please note, this is an online event that takes place on Zoom. Attendees will receive a Zoom link 24 hours before the program. We encourage you to attend even if you don't finish the book! It's the journey, not the destination.
