Of Englewood: Black Girlhood in Chicago's Englewood Neighborhood
A scholar-led workshop at the Kelly branch, part of the Renaissance Project, centering the Black girl experience in Englewood across past, present, and future. Taylor Anne Mazique, a University of Illinois Chicago PhD candidate and founder of the Black Girl Archive, opens with a mini lecture on Black girlhood in Englewood during the Great Migration, drawing on CPL’s African American archival collections. Her teen co-creators then present their contributions to the archive before leading guests through a creative archiving activity. The program runs Sunday, December 13, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, and registration is active.
