Odyssey Day: the Cyclops, Circe and Penelope
A reading and discussion of *The Odyssey* led by University of Chicago Classics faculty, focusing on three pivotal scenes — Odysseus with the Cyclops, Circe, and Penelope — and how those episodes have been reinterpreted through translations, novels, poetry, art, and film. The session on Thursday, October 15, from 3:30 to 5:30 PM at the Obama Presidential Center invites participants to consider what the epic still has to say about combat, danger, truth, transformation, and reconciliation. Registration is free but requires a request for accessibility accommodations at least 14 business days ahead.
