Mongolian Fossil Plants
Fabiani Herrera, the Negaunee Associate Curator of Paleobotany, leads a session at the Field Museum on Wednesday, November 18, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, using a Scanning Electron Microscope to examine 120-million-year-old fossilized plants from Mongolia. Visitors get hands-on time with the equipment, looking at the Wentzscope to spot the tiny structural details that link these ancient specimens to their modern relatives. The program digs into how these characteristics help scientists trace evolutionary lineages back to the Age of Dinosaurs. Included with museum admission.
