Monday Matinee: La Bamba (1987)

The Edgewater branch of the Chicago Public Library screens *La Bamba* as part of its Latine Heritage Month programming and the citywide Community Cinema series. Lou Diamond Phillips plays Ritchie Valens in this 1987 biopic about the teenage rock-and-roll star who died alongside Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper. The 108-minute film (rated PG-13) starts at 2 PM on Monday, September 21, with English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. Registration is recommended but not required to attend.
