Meet: Fritz Pollard - The Fredrick Douglass of Football – Make a Team Pennant

A workshop at the Mount Greenwood branch of the Chicago Public Library spotlights Fritz Pollard, a Chicago native and Lane Tech graduate who became the NFL's first Black head coach in 1921. On Saturday, November 21, from 11 AM to noon, participants learn about Pollard's legacy and then design a felt pennant representing their own favorite team or community. The program is part of the library's Renaissance Project, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Registration is required.
