Meet Chester Commodore: Drawing and Illustration 101

This workshop at the Bezazian branch explores the work of Chester Commodore, the influential African American cartoonist whose decades of editorial cartoons in the *Chicago Defender* challenged racial stereotypes and advocated for justice. Artist Anthony Fowler Jr. leads the session on Wednesday, November 11, from 6 to 7 PM, starting with a look at selected pieces from the library’s archive, then moving into a hands-on drawing and comic illustration workshop designed to help participants tell their own stories. Part of the Renaissance Project series at Chicago Public Library, the event is free and open to all.
