Meet Calvin B. Jones: Make a Mini-Mural
Calvin B. Jones painted six murals across Chicago's South and West sides between 1976 and 1987, working within the Black Arts Movement and drawing from the AfriCOBRA collective's signature "Cool-Ade colors." This hands-on program at Vodak-East Side on Wednesday, November 18, from 6 to 7 PM invites families to learn about Jones's life and work while considering whose murals get preserved. Participants create a mini-mural inspired by his bold palette and African print designs, no art experience needed. Free and open to all ages, presented through the Chicago Public Library's Renaissance Project.
