Meet Calvin B. Jones: Make a Mini-Mural

On Wednesday, September 9, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, artist Calvin B. Jones (active in the Black Arts Movement and influenced by Chicago’s AfriCOBRA collective) gets a hands-on tribute at Jeffery Manor. The program, presented by the Chicago Public Library’s Renaissance Project, introduces Jones’s 1970s and ‘80s South and West Side murals through a guided mini-mural activity using his signature bold “Cool-Ade” colors and African print designs. It’s a straightforward, family-friendly workshop for all ages, built around the question “Whose murals get saved?” Registration is required.
