Junior Sextet Plays J Dilla at Marquette

The Marquette Park Junior Sextet brings a deep-dive into the work of J Dilla to the park this summer. The sextet of young musicians will perform songs by the legendary hip-hop and electronic producer, whose sound wove jazz into modern production — a fitting influence for this ensemble's instrumentation of trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano, upright bass, and drums. The free concert happens Thursday, August 27, from 6 to 8 PM at Marquette Park, and doubles as the warm-up for the Junior Chamber Ensemble's set of jazz composers.
