Inspiration from the Archives with avery r. young

A two-part workshop at the Obama Presidential Center, pairing archival research with creative writing. A Chicago Public Library archivist first shows participants how to navigate the Vivian G. Harsh Research Collection, both online and in person. Then Chicago’s inaugural Poet Laureate, avery r. young, leads a session on how archival materials can fuel original writing. Attendance is required for both sessions; the program runs Monday, September 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Part of the Renaissance Project, a Mellon Foundation initiative to digitize CPL's archives.
