
Harsh Readers Circle: A Street in Bronzeville by Gwendolyn Brooks
The Harsh Readers Circle (HRC) partners with the Court Theatre, University of Chicago's professional theatre, in August. As part of the theatre's Spotlight Reading Series, HRC will discuss the Gwendolyn Brooks classic A Street in Bronzeville. (Readers can find A Street in Bronzeville in the anthology Blacks , which is available from Chicago Public Library.) The readers circle meeting will be be preceded by a tour of the Praise & Protest exhibit at the Vivian G. Harsh Research Collection and lunch. Inspired by the Book Review and Lecture Forum during the early years of the historic Hall Branch library, HRC meets the third Saturday of every month (excluding December) in the
Vivian G. Harsh Research Collection at the Woodson Regional Library. The
Circle is a book club devoted to reading and discussing Black
literature, fiction and non-fiction.
The Circle is fully hybrid through Zoom. Please register for the Zoom meetings if you’d like to join the discussion remotely.
