Gourd Ornament Decorating with Abeni Pierson

A hands-on workshop at the DuSable Black History Museum where artist Abeni Pierson guides participants through the craft of gourd decorating. The session covers the cultural history and cultivation of gourds, then moves into techniques including decoupage, engraving, and gold leaf appliqué. Each person creates one ornament to take home; safety instruction and tools for engraving are provided. The workshop takes place Sunday, November 8, at noon, and tickets are $55.20.
