Take a walk through the fascinating history of Chicago’s lakefront in this “Preview and Reception” for Forever Open, Clear, and Free: The History of Chicago’s Public Lakefront, an upcoming two-part program based on Lois Wille's 1972 book. Our public Lake Michigan lakefront is considered the "jewel" of Chicago -- it's what makes Chicago different from every other Great Lakes city. But preserving our lakefront –including our Edgewater lakefront -- as a public open space as envisioned by our predecessors hasn't been easy. Come learn about this 200+ year history of intrepid Chicagoans’, leading court cases, plans and laws designed to keep our lakefront Forever Open, Clear, Free.Put on by the Berger Park Advisory Council with the Edgewater Historical Society.
