Film Screening: Zoot Suit (1981)

A screening of Luis Valdez's 1981 adaptation of his own play, a stylized musical-drama that reimagines the 1942 Sleepy Lagoon murder trial and the Zoot Suit Riots that followed. Edward James Olmos plays El Pachuco, the narrator and conscience of the piece. It unspools at the Richard M. Daley-W Humboldt branch library on Sunday, September 13, from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing will be available. Free, as part of the library's Community Cinema series.
