Film Screening: The Holdovers (2023)

The Holdovers (2023) screens on Friday afternoon, November 20, from 2:30 to 4:45 PM at the Bucktown-Wicker Park branch. Alexander Payne's R-rated dramedy follows a disagreeable boarding school teacher, Paul Hunham, who ends up supervising the students stuck on campus over Christmas break. The unlikely trio of Paul, troublemaker Angus, and head cook Mary stumble through the holiday together in a film that balances dry humor with genuine warmth. English subtitles for the hearing impaired play by default. This is one of many free screenings in the Chicago Public Library's Community Cinema series.
