Film Screening: The Fifth Element (1997)

The Fifth Element screens at the Albany Park library as part of the 2026 One Book, One Chicago season, which pairs this year’s selection, Samantha Harvey’s *Orbital*, with a celebration of space on film. Bruce Willis plays a 23rd-century cabbie who picks up a supreme being and ends up racing to recover four elemental stones before an industrialist can exploit them. The 126-minute, PG-13 screening runs Saturday, November 7, from 11 AM to 1:30 PM, with snacks served and English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. A low-key Saturday morning option for anyone curious about the book’s cosmic themes or just in the mood for a classic.
