Film Screening: The Bad Seed (1956)

A Halloween screening of the 1956 thriller *The Bad Seed*, the film version of Maxwell Anderson's Broadway play about a mother—played by Best Actress nominee Nancy Kelly—who comes to suspect her seemingly perfect eight-year-old daughter, played by Best Supporting Actress nominee Patty McCormack, is a ruthless killer. Kelly, McCormack, Henry Jones, and Eileen Heckart reprise their stage roles in a production that ends differently from the play. The 127-minute film screens Friday, October 30, from noon to 2 PM at the Mayfair branch, with English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
