Film Screening: Beloved (1998)

A screening of Jonathan Demme's 1998 adaptation of Toni Morrison's *Beloved*, with Oprah Winfrey starring as Sethe, a former slave in post–Civil War Ohio whose past arrives in the form of a mysterious young woman. The film runs 172 minutes and is rated R. English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing will be available. The screening takes place Saturday, August 29, at 2:00 PM at the North Austin branch. Part of the Chicago 250 series, with additional screenings at libraries across the city.
