Art has the power to convey strong emotions. Join us for Family Day and experiment with bold lines, shapes, and colors as you translate your feelings into abstract art.
Family Day activities are inspired by our collection and the following exhibitions now on view: Beyond Form: Abstraction at Midcentury and Willem de Kooning Drawing .

what to expect Activities in the Ryan Learning Center are always free and you do not need to purchase tickets to enter. The Ryan Learning Center is located at 159 E Monroe Street in the Modern Wing, across from Millennium Park. Find us on the first floor of the museum’s Modern Wing and turn left after you enter at 159 E Monroe.
Please note all gallery activities require a ticket to the museum. Museum admission is always free for children under 14 and Chicago teens under 18. The museum galleries are free for Illinois residents on Thursdays evenings during Free Summer Thursdays , 5:00–8:00, June 11–September 17. Learn more about free admission opportunities .
We invite you to bring your own snacks or sack lunch. A classroom space where you can relax and refuel will be reserved for use between activities.
While we are unable to store belongings, we do have space for parking strollers.
