Experiential Learning with the Field Museum at the Pullman National Historical Park

This professional development workshop for educators uses a pivotal moment in labor history to model inquiry-based teaching. Hosted by the Field Museum at Pullman National Historical Park on Thursday, November 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the session examines how Filipino American and Mexican American workers built alliances with the Pullman Porters’ Union to challenge unfair labor systems. Participants analyze primary and secondary sources, develop strategies for incorporating student-led inquiry and reflection, and explore how a field trip to the park can deepen classroom learning on solidarity and social change.
