Old Town School of Folk Music’s Community Ventures department brings the third installment of its four-part summer series exploring Nina Simone's "Four Women" to the South Shore Cultural Center. This 60-minute performance on Thursday, September 3, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, centers on the character Sweet Thing, placing her in conversation with Oya, a feminine Orisha from the Afro-Cuban Lucumí tradition. Damon Locks and Isaiah Collier handle the music, with choreography by Keyierra Collins. The series uses Simone's scathing critique of racial injustice as a jumping-off point for a diasporic exploration.
