Cuatro Mujeres: Nina Simone’s Four Women at Humboldt

Old Town School of Folk Music’s Community Ventures department continues its four-part NOITP summer series examining Nina Simone’s “Four Women” with this Humboldt Park performance focused on Saffronia. The 60-minute program places Simone’s archetypal figure in dialogue with Oshun, a feminine Orisha from the Afro-Cuban Lucumí tradition, featuring Mariachi Cuatro Vientos and Frog Belly Society with choreography by Edson Cabrera. Tuesday, August 25, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM — one of four park performances across the South and West Sides this summer.
