Cuatro Mujeres: Nina Simone’s Four Women at Austin Town Hall

The Old Town School of Folk Music’s Community Ventures series continues its four-part exploration of Nina Simone’s “Four Women” with a performance that pairs Simone’s character Peaches with Obba, a feminine Orisha from the Afro-Cuban Lucumí tradition. This 60-minute show at Austin Town Hall Park on Tuesday, September 8, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM features musicians Angel Bat Dawid and Fred Jackson Jr. with choreography by Ayesha Jaco. It’s a thoughtful, diasporic reframing of Simone’s original critique, presented free of charge in a West Side park.
