Conversación en las galerías: El anonimato y la autoría en dos retratos

A gallery talk in Spanish led by Luce curatorial fellow Sofía Ortega-Guerrero, examining how the identities of portrait subjects — often anonymous or overlooked — can be recovered and reinterpreted over time. Using works by Diego Rivera and Albert Schindler, the conversation traces the stories of Luz Jiménez, a Nahua weaver and historian in 20th-century Mexico, and Emmanuel Rio, an Afro-Brazilian musician enslaved in the 19th-century Viennese court.
