Composer's Workshop Plays Tommy Carroll at Marquette

The Marquette Park Music Program presents a free concert featuring the compositions of 3Arts Award-winning drummer Tommy Carroll, whose work blends dance music and improvisation with a focus on disability culture. The full Composer's Workshop ensemble—saxes, brass, guitar, bass, and drums—will perform Carroll's arrangements on Wednesday, August 26, from 6 to 8 PM at Marquette Park. The evening also opens with the Marquette Park Chamber Ensemble playing a set of Miles Davis. Pop-up concerts like these remain one of the neighborhood's more substantive live music offerings, with a roof-raising horn section and a poet rounding out the bill.
