Chicago: The Birthplace of Black History Tour with Dilla the Urban Historian

This bus tour, led by Urban Historian Sherman “Dilla” Thomas of Mahagany Tours, stops at key Chicago locations that fostered Black history as an academic subject, including the Wabash YMCA where the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (now ASALH) was founded in 1915. Part of the Chicago Public Library’s Renaissance Project, the tour meets Wednesday, August 26, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Woodson Regional library in Washington Heights. Registration is required and opens soon. Accessibility accommodations must be requested at least 14 business days in advance.
