Chicago Poet Laureate Mayda del Valle: eL Cien Poetry Workshop

Chicago Poet Laureate Mayda del Valle leads a workshop at Bezazian on Friday, October 9, from 2 to 4 PM, teaching participants how to write an "eL Cien": a 100-word poem made of five couplets, ten words per line, that captures the sensory experience of a place. Del Valle is a South Side native, National Poetry Slam champion, and former Def Poetry Jam cast member who brings decades of performance and teaching experience to the room. The workshop is free but requires advance registration, and space is limited.
