Blues to Hip-Hop: Tracing Black American Culture at Unity

The Elastic Arts Outreach Program brings a free evening of performance and storytelling to Unity Park, tracing the lineage of Blues and Hip-Hop as foundational Black American art forms. On Friday, July 31, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, the program uses live music, narrative, and community conversation to connect the deep historical roots of these traditions with the work of contemporary artists responding to them today. It’s a thoughtful, public-facing event timed to the nation’s 250th anniversary, and a rare chance to see Elastic Arts’ programming outdoors in Logan Square.
