Archives and Cocinas: Cooking Demonstration with Chef Urban Pilón

Chef Urban Pilón (Roberto Pérez) — a chef, musician, and researcher of Afro-Caribbean traditions — leads a cooking demonstration on sofrito at West Lawn on Saturday, November 21, from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM. The program pairs the hands-on cooking session with a look at Latine food collections in the Chicago Public Library’s Special Collections, and attendees are invited to bring a menu from a favorite restaurant to add to the Chicago Menu Collection. The demonstration is presented bilingually, with the source description appearing in both English and Spanish.
