America: Songs of Protest and Freedom at Seward

A multi-genre concert of spoken word and music marking the 250th anniversary of the United States, written and narrated by journalist Cheryl Corley. The performance, led by singer-songwriter Lucy Smith and her band, traces the country's story from its founding through the 21st century, weaving in texts by Walt Whitman and other American authors alongside songs by Curtis Mayfield, John Lennon, and Beyoncé. It takes place Saturday evening, July 25, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Seward Park in River North.
