Adult Book Discussion: Citizenship: Notes on an American Myth

A book discussion at the West Loop branch that doubles as a contribution to both Latine Heritage Month and the nation’s 250th anniversary. The group tackles Daisy Hernández’s *Citizenship: Notes on an American Myth*, a memoir-inflected analysis of the laws, customs, and language that decide who belongs in America and who gets left out. The conversation takes place Thursday, September 17, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. The first six registrants receive a free copy of the book (email to arrange pickup). Pilsen Community Books, Chicago’s employee-owned independent bookstore, helped organize the program. Registration is required.
